10.2.3. The Formation of the Photon

In The Mechanism, the photon before manifestation is KNOWING. It is not understood as a small physical object moving through an already existing space. The term is associated with the current position in the relational landscape of KNOWING where a new reading begins.

In this understanding, KNOWING is “light”. Established SEPARATIONS, their meeting points and their further organisation constitute the understood landscape. Between attractors there are INTERSPACES: as yet unread relations that can give rise to manifest experience.

THE PANORAMIC GAZE registers the current landscape and its CHANGES. The nearest unread relation becomes the subject of THE FOCAL GAZE, and the reading begins from the current position. It is this position that is here termed the photon.

The manifest event is the “shadow” of THE INTERSPACE. The photon, as a piece of KNOWING, does not pass through the horizon and become physical. The unresolved relation appears as SENSATION and is traversed in the Experience Circle. THE SENSATION is nulled, while the result is established as a new SEPARATION in KNOWING.

The horizon thus maintains the distinction between the domains. KNOWING does not become qualia, and qualia do not become KNOWING. The Experience Circle connects them through a single experiential event with a manifest course and an abstract result.

This understanding also provides the direction for The Mechanism’s explanation of energy. CHANGE necessitates impulses. The fundamental impulse is the only fundamental quale, and it is through its organisation that we experience qualia, force and mass in different forms. Mass is thus understood as qualia. The hypothesis is that the distinction between new reading and confirmatory reading has a bearing on how mass appears; the specific mechanism is still under investigation.

Frequency denotes repetition in the course of events. More readings entail more changes and thus more impulse events. Here, The Mechanism seeks a common origin for frequency and energy. The quantitative connection must be derived from the organisation of reading.

The photon’s place in the theory is therefore, for now, clearer ontologically than physically: before manifestation, it denotes a position in KNOWING; the experienced event arises through the reading of an INTERSPACE. How this gives rise to the photon’s measurable properties and specific observational outcomes forms part of the continuing work on the EM Bridge.
