2.4. ERFAREREN (THE EXPERIENCER)

The fourth term is ERFAREREN — Norwegian for THE EXPERIENCER.

ERFAREREN is the principle that experiences: not a person, not a god, not a psychological subject, but the fundamental subject through which all experience occurs. It possesses no identity, personality, memory or qualities of experience of its own. Its only intrinsic capacities are AWARENESS – the capacity to register distinction – and FOCUS – the capacity through which distinction becomes interpreted. Everything else – including identity, personality and every higher structure – emerges later through THE SOURCE, the universal structure that grows from THE FIRST SENSATION.

Throughout this book, the original Norwegian term ERFAREREN appears occasionally, but the English term the EXPERIENCER is used throughout as the primary designation of the concept. Here, the EXPERIENCER refers to the fundamental subject of experience itself, not to an individual person or psychological self.

A Final Remark
These four concepts — KNOWING, AWARENESS, BEING and THE EXPERIENCER — are the ontological primitives of the theory. Everything else in this book is built from them. A reader who keeps these four concepts clearly in mind will discover that everything else follows.
